One of SOC’s primary goals is to help initiate, develop, and support resident-led neighborhood associations across the South Side. This fits into our mission of increasing resident voice in the affairs of their community, improving access to public resources, and improving the ability of residents to act together to create positive change. Currently, SOC actively supports six distinct resident groups, with additional groups currently in the planning and recruitment phase.
KK River Neighbors in Action (KKRNIA)
KKRNIA was formed through collaboration between SOC, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers, and local residents in 2007. The group has worked on numerous projects relating to the KK River, environmental preservation, and public health.

Layton Park South Neighbors
Layton Park South Area
This is the newest resident group established through collaboration with SOC, and encompasses the area between Lincoln Avenue to the north, Cleveland or Pabst Ave to the south, 27th Street to the east and 35th Street to the west (see map).

South of the Tracks (SOT)
SOT was formed in 2014 by residents of the Polonia Neighborhood, led by SOC’s own Clarissa Morales, because they wanted neighbors in their area to have greater voice in what was happening around them.

Walker’s Point Association (WPA) Resident Committee
